or "Paint by numbers" or "Nonograms" are words for a puzzle game.
As described at Wikipedia, the game consists of a grid of any size (e.g. 10x10 or 15x15) whose cells have to be colored or left blank according to numbers given at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture.
I developed a Picross game for MIDP 2.0 capable mobile phones with a display resolution of at least 144x144. The program is written in Java (J2ME) using the NetBeans IDE with the NetBeans MobilityPack Plugin. This project was the subject of a scientific work I had to do during the lecture "Game programming" at our University.
I have already written a Picross game for the CASIO CFX-9850G programmable scientific calculator and used parts of the source and ported them to Java.
I also have a diploma in computer science and I've worked at a mobile phone game development company for six months while writing my diploma thesis.
After finishing Mobile Picross I'm developing Mobile Picross 2, its successor. It will feature 30x30 puzzles, better Graphics and better Sound as well as Animation. Some other game functions will also be improved in Mobile Picross 2.
Unfortunately the development of Mobile Picross 2 slowed down quite a bit in the previous months because I was pretty busy with my studies. Additionally I am all by myself with the project again. Now I have a job, but I sacrifice my afternoons to continue this project. I hope that the progress will be more steady from now on.
Please do always look in the News-section of the project page for detailed Information
